XML/AJAX

Tao Antialiased
I've started a project of building a "Black Belt Family Tree" for Howard's branch of the WMAA (and possibly above?). It will be implemented in AJAX and XML (not just for buzzwords sake, but rather because AJAX is a powerful client-side tool, and XML is the native language of AJAX). To this end, I would also like to make the XML render nice in compatable browsers (I've heard IE cannot do this?) before attacking the harder problem of making a JavaScript client (it also may help me with thinking of the problem more visually. Here is the first XML file. Does anyone know any good online AJAX/XML resources? Any good dead tree ones?

Thanks!

Well, there are the Javascript libraries that come with Ruby on Rails, particularly Prototype...

While I appreciate the Ruby suggestion, I'd like to avoid server-side code as much as I can.

Well yes, but you can at least use the javascript libraries and yoink webpage-code from stuff generated with their helper-functions ;)

Where's this XML coming from, anyway?

Hand building the first few files. Do you have any recs to automate the rest of the build process?

besides Ruby on Rails? not really ;)

(it could *very* easily be made to display records in whatever XML template you want, yoinkable with wget or something)

I think xxv has an XML editor of choice over on his website...

Oh, and for the XML thing, have a look at this.
